We are Sean and Suzanne Canavan missionaries to India.  I am an independent Baptist missionary that God has called to the country of India.  Presently India is the world’s largest democracy.  By the year 2020 it is predicted that India will be the most populous nation in the world.  The current population is 1.1 billion people, more than one sixth of the population of the world.  Satan has an iron grip on these people and he does not intend to relinquish it.  This evil taskmaster has much of the population living in extreme poverty, not only physically but also spiritually.  Many are steeped in Idolatry, Mysticism, and Pantheism.  80.5% of the people are Hindu, 13.4% Muslim and only 2.3% are Christian.  A number of people in India have never heard the name Jesus Christ.

I was saved at the age of 22.  My brother Dan opened the scriptures to me and showed me that I was a sinner.   He showed me that Jesus loves me and that he died for me.  I believe that God used my brother’s testimony, and the change that had occurred in his life, to prepare my heart.  When he showed me the scriptures, I believed.  I was soon baptized and then joined a good independent Baptist church.  I was called to preach when my Pastor Norman Pyle preached a message about the call of God.  God confirmed my call through much prayer.  I began attending Fairhaven Baptist College and graduated in May of 2000.  While I stated there to pay off my school bill, I kept busy preaching in my nursing home ministry and working on my bus route.  In 2004 the Lord led me to Kenwood First Baptist Church in Fayetteville, GA.  Here the Lord used me to teach Adult Sunday School, run a bus route and preach.  I was able to preach in the Atlanta Baptist Rescue Mission, in the Christian City Nursing Home, and for my pastor whenever he needed me.  At Kenwood the Lord began to burden my heart for missions.  God then opened the door for me to go to India on a mission’s trip.

While in Bible college a missionary from India came through and presented his ministry.  It was there that the Holy Spirit greatly burdened my heart for the Indian people.  Going forward at the invitation, I told the Lord that I would do whatever He wanted me to do.  I also vowed to go to India someday.  I was not able to take a missions trip until November 2006.  While on that trip God clearly called me to preach the gospel to the people of India.  There is no doubt in my mind that the Lord wants me in India.  In June of 2007 I was accepted to serve with Baptist International Missions, Inc.

My vision is to go to Andrha Pradesh, India and work with a national pastor for one to two years.  This will enable us to learn the language and the culture.  We plan to take frequent evangelistic trips during this time.  We plan to start a church, reach the lost, disciple the saved and train national leadership.  We are thankful that God has called us to serve and preach the Word to the people of India.  We are excited about the opportunity to go and eager to get there as quickly as possible to begin fulfilling God’s call on our lives to reach the lost souls of India.

Please pray for me and especially the hearts of the Indian people as we go to in the Lord’s service
